Anki

Pretty popular program for memorizing information, using the powerful technique of spaced repetition and active recall. This way, a shocking rate of at most 2 minutes per piece of knowledge is achieved!

Anki hatred

The remedy might be to mix in some subjects you like to self-learn (with no shame in deleting them if you lose interest in it)!

Algorithm

An algorithm is a better indicator of when to review stuff than your own dunning-kruger effect brain. You will see its effects in the long run.

But, really, I did do the unthinkable

This was the most regretful day of my life in terms of academics! My self-worth judgments were all over the place. Quitting Anki only after 1 day due to intimidation. Little did I know exploration of other methods was also futile. I returned a few months later.

Thus I learnt the hard way that it's actually fine to "overkill" (use a great tool even if not strictly necessary or even normal). I didn't use Anki until Form 5 because I thought it was only for medical students - my judgement WAS tilted - and it was also the case that nobody else at school used Anki.

A strange case was that I actually intentionally quit Anki about 5 months afterward - in favor of SuperMemo, which allows rich information imports in terms of articles, extractions, and cloze deletions (incremental reading). I WAS NOT GOING TO LACK THE INTIMIDATING GENERAL CONSENSUS OF SUCH SOFTWARE GET ME THIS TIME (otherwise history would repeat itself!)

Plus the fallacy that I should focus on critical thinking about what the exam mark schemes will be instead of memorizing it (which teachers claim to be too risky). The obvious implication that could have solved everything is that I cannot think deeply without knowledge! Knowledge and thinking are not separate; they are mutually needed! As one! Both boost intelligence; in fact, the more knowledge you have, the easier you can connect the dots. Additionally, high stability of knowledge allows for more energy allocation to deep thinking of associated knowledge. (Proof: babies have little knowledge and little thinking ability.)

Knows me better than teachers though

It's a mega-quiz personalized to display what needs learning! Thus spaced repetition apps are great utilities for information stabilization and such.
