When you say you’re “good” or “bad”, what other metric do you take
into account?
Compared to other people, like their friends? (usually friends are
similar)
Or the average?
Most compare to their expectations. Sometimes they can be too high, so
psychologically bad.
Sometimes, comparisons can give a poor idea if you only do it against
one person.
Very real. Source of anxiety. I don't think you can stop it because your
brain at leads needs metrics of good and bad. Otherwise what would
happen?
It's weird to not compare to others. Becuase it is instinctive to rely on the average of observable humankind. Still you cannot escape the fact that other humans exist.
You may compare to the idealist version of you. This is a losing battle.==
Rather, other people selectively display who they are, especially on social media, so you cannot accurately bother with comparing with their lives. You may think that they are great because they mostly hide their problems or such.
Depends on whether looking at others make you pessimistic. If it really does, doing actions that enhance your ability is more motivating and a worthwhile change.
