1. Friends won’t help you in the examinations or tests, which is the
main assessment method of school. Bonds have zero value when doing those
assessments, in fact you might have even been reliant on them in the
past and thus collapse when you realize you’re all alone and cannot
solve an examination question.
2. Almost nobody can be talked to during school hours, as any attempt to
communicate complex ideas will certainly waste too much time within a
lesson, especially as teachers hate noise. So you cannot perform the
primary function of friends within school hours, which defeats the
primary purpose of befriending a classmate as the primary meeting hours
with them, you are forced to remain non-talking. (I usually write down
my ideas to my communicative partners if I am unable to use a laptop
that instant, on a slip of paper, pass it to them and ask them to write
my response, as it is quiet, however I don’t actually see anyone else do
that, they just constantly talk and get into trouble. Alternatively,
google chat them outside of school hours as I type faster, though I have
to wait for a response which will take an unspecified amount of
time)
3. There is a false expectation that classmates will indeed be friends.
And the strange assumption that, for every person, there will be someone
in your class that will be befriended, but I was seen as weird for
having none…
4. School makes us learn the exact factual knowledge, so often there
isn't much to make a discussion in an academic subject fun
