Ideas that males are supposed to be independent and rational, females
are supposed to be gentle yet emotional, and also look beautiful, or (in
China) harm their toes to the point of shrinking, and obeying their
husbands without any suggestion of disagreement… they are indeed
outdated, cutting into inequality a lot.
I also heard "men shouldn't cry." once when I was trapped in an
elevator. Boo, even though my Mom was a female, she was way more mature
than my 8-year-old (?) self.
However, some differences do remain, like how different sexes use
language differently, or the idea that men should let women go first,
“ladies first”, which used to be the case in old times but now is met
with skepticism.
Girls grow a prefrontal cortex earlier in their brain. Thus, they think better. Proof
done.
Yet boys in PE class need to do better... Proof of neglecting the other
side sometimes.
Is it going to the reverse state? Where women are treated nicer (because, in fact, they get lighter jail sentences for the same crimes, because subconsciously, people believe they can change more easily)? Well, one thing to note is that, like above, women indeed get smarter faster than men. However, nobody cares about this!
Women used to be treated so much better than men. However, I believe that we still should be careful as to not let the reverse happen to men all around the globe. We don't want to be the next victims too, you know? :)
