A shortcut that sometimes fails, applying some common trait of humans or other things like food and applying it to all other things of the same kind/the same type. Well it’s because individually asking would waste a huge amount of time (and sometimes, money too), for example, business research like focus groups. However, it can be a fallacy because it leads to exclusion, for instance, neurodivergence! Overall, it should still be fine though as long as you say it's "most" and not necessarily "all", from a factual standpoint, because there still needs to be a dose of pragmatism here. Otherwise nothing will be done, so generalization is the case!
