Just like judging a book by its cover.
A common psychological lie to pretend to promote
equality.
It’s said to be bad, but it’s inevitable, what else can we judge
it/him/her for without doing other things like asking questions /
looking into their life, as such even though it's not nice, it’s usually
done like that. I usually avoid it because it’s still bad to insult
someone’s appearance, as there are indeed ugly yet important people like
Stephen Hawking It's a lie. Simply a lie. What else can you do
though.
I am from Hong Kong so of course I look like a Hong-Konger. But my
English is so much better. Even though HK is technically bilingual,
people will usually use Chinese when they talk to me if they are not
from this school given my ethnic appearance. However, the reason is
obvious: Most HK-ers speak Chinese, so society will inevitably converge to
the norm when treating similar cases! (Alternatively, they themselves
know Chinese better.)
Luckily the younger generation with westernization seems to know more
English, so I hope this will change.
