A saying where 80% of results come from 20% of work; as such, it is
also known as the 80:20 rule.
Basically, do the most important work first…
I think it's way too oversaid in productivity advice. Unfortunately,
humans aren't great at foreseeing where the results will go
with...
It sounds fancy, but I am tired of it! It's almost a given that some
things are more important than others.
Yet those specific numbers, it isn’t a rule of nature by any
means.
The trouble may be that this is only said, without the methodology of
determining how to work, what actually gives results, and such;
otherwise, I might like this more.
It used to describe 80% of the population of Italy being owned by 20% of people. Yet, in reality, it sounds logical when you add it everywhere, so that might be how it spread beyond the initial application areas, eh?
80% of views come from 20% of videos and vice versa. Alternatively, 20% of the videos might provide 80% of the value.
Doesn't really work though. The problem is that 80% of the marks assess 20% of the content - but the problem is that most people already know that 20% so the ones really committed to being a high achiever suffer much more!
It sounds like an excuse to go weaker - and when almost all people do the 80%, relatively speaking, you may need more effort
-Yes, the problem is logarithmic growth (at least in terms of marks)
And A* is explicitly designed for the 20% to be needed (most of the time) after the 80% easy marks. The rule itself is acknowledging how many people are already A, yet A became too hard to differentiate humans!!!
