State thinking is thinking about how something is going to make them
feel. For instance, these people often skip most discomforts due to
“feeling scared”. Or, a better example, “How much do I have to work
before I go home?” (Because location is a state). This is adversarial thinking.
In the world today, too many people chase states, especially “Happiness”
even though it’s not clearly defined and might not exist at all. Chasing
a state, i.e. benign reliant on it, might be like an addiction, because what can
happen: the state doesn’t occur even after (for instance suddenly being
informed that you need to work overtime), or it is weakened due to hedonic treadmilll changing.
However, even though they act, their action is tied to their feelings, and they thus do
not do actions that make them feel uneasy.
If the mind wants a state and thus you act to reverse engineer it, for
instance wanting relaxation and stress relief from scrolling short-form content,
usually it has the opposite or negligible effect, so DON'T DO THIS SO
MUCH!
