Productivity

The act of being able to do things efficiently or consistently, in the pursuit of some goal or reward. Literally how good you are at "producing". Problem is that it treats humans like a means to an end to make products which may increase stress and decrease life-satisfication.

Against productivity gurus on the internet

Them: Forget about motivation, emotion! Discipline, motivation, , and willpower are needed!
However, studies show that they are mostly wrong! Because a human cannot operate at such high potential with such high discomfort! They are still bound by Darwinism and human brain psychology.
It actually occurs through internal drive cultivation, where you become dedicated to one thing that you actually WANT to do. I know it’s hard, but it’s true…

Though you can try, you may get on again

If you want to go into deep work, pretty much get OFF social media!! There is little to be gained there. There is nothing that can be solved just by watching videos of global affairs - you are too weak to stop them! The pleasure of learning is much greater, even if it takes more effort. The exception is that you can listen to music, for instance, during repetitive learning, because, by definition, music pleases the ears.

Productivity v.s. energy dilemma

Humans have limited time as they need to sleep, and humans have limited energy as they would otherwise feel burnt out. However, busyness with both duties and hobbies cuts into both, so there needs to be an adequate balance found. I probably think it’s better to actually get things done, though.

I get the paradox of self-blame for productive people now

Productive people spend less time on serious stuff -> guilty "wasting time" doing things they enjoy because when they're not doing work-focused things, they are "not productive"

In fact, I think it's because it's literally their productivity spilling over into what others say "shouldn't be done at all"; however, in reality, iperhaps they like it, so no loss (other than opportunity cost for things that are negligible or already done anyways?)

While such them ofc stumble when they asked how long they studied. Long duration is good, but it implies no diminishing returns o iguess - in fact, long time, low effort arguable worse compared to short time, high effort (if you have things u wanna do?), but don't rush, I guess.
