The influence exerted by peers, family, or society that compels individuals to
align their thoughts, behaviors, and actions with group norms, even when
pragmatically those thoughts, behaviors, and
actions aren’t totally rational or beneficial. (Sometimes they can be fallacies)
And the pain of exclusion is too much to handle for many people, not
just socially extroverted people, but also people who are reliant on
family for money
support, etc.
It clearly affects thinking. In some cases, it can be coercion too! Thus sometimes this
is not that healthy.
Recognize the self as an independent entity and adopt a pragmatic
approach to problem-solving and decision-making, and recognize that society can
SOMETIMES be totally wrong, as great innovators and thinkers get famous
for the reason that they defy traditional ideology.
To avoid the fallacy, treat others' suggestions and noise as such, and
sometimes dare to admit that they are, in fact, likely wrong. Empathy
and guilt are usually just trickery, although they exist for a reason;
in fact, they can be abused too.
Paradoxically, external pressure reduces motivation -> "learning" without "merit", afterwards, you go, "Why am I doing this?" as your brain scrambles to find an answer yet realizes that it is even lower than the education system, which destroyed your learning drive.
