Individualism

A philosophy that emphasizes the worth of the individual. This is likely because the only experiencer of one’s own life is the individual, and limitations that can be overcome are mostly in the self.

Advantage

Well, one advantage of this is that the more people are involved in a certain thing, the more compromises have to be made, and when only the individual is doing something (unless he or she REALLY needs others’ help), he or she can be self-satisfied. Groupwork usually won’t have everyone satisfied.

Disadvantage

Some people may really want this. However, the pragmatic reality may be a bit different. Non-conformity is met with way TOO much skepticism for its good, like quitting the education system for individual, free, optimal learning with interruptions from sleep. Inevitably, some level of group cohesiveness may be needed.

Optimistic note

Most scientific, mathematical, or heck, any other types of breakthroughs occur due to someone deviating from the norm! You can be too, but I would say the odds are slim. The more important thing is this: Logically, wrong logic is still wrong logic, harmful are wrong things, and the fact that such things are rebelled against is even worse, even if widely done or so ingrained into societal norms! Except for Absurdism, and situations where it is your choice, after all, that is the whole core of Individualism: your nature shines bright in your pleasure, for it is the way to remain as natural to your brain as possible!
